At the risk of losing all sensation in my extremities, I ventured out to play in the 5 inches of glorious powder that's so graciously dusting the southern regions of North Carolina (and pretty much the rest of the lower, righthand side of the United States). I learned real quick that North Carolinians and Texans do have one thing in common... they lose their shiz when inclement winter weather strikes. (i.e. the governor declared a state of emergency this morning and Chick-Fil-A is closed).

So what's a girl to do? Stare out the window, watch the Weather Channel for two hours and obsessively measure the accumulation on my balcony every hour on the hour? (That got old by noon). No, I pulled on my Fuggs (fake Uggs, people... or frickin' ugly footwear that happens to be ridiculously warm) and piled on a hodge-podge of sweatshirts and wool and leggings and went exploring. (Er, pretend that walking 200 yards across the street is wild and adventurous). I snapped some pictures. I etched words like "SNOW!" and "BROOKE!" on the sidewalk. I visited Rashad at the convenient store (a little snow doesn't curb my insatiable thirst for 32 ounces of fountain Diet Coke). And then I felt numbness and loss of coordination setting in, so I called my adventure on account of hypothermia. (Why risk it, you know?)

Now if only I had some dark rum to spice up my hot cocoa...
