Drizzles

"West Coast" by Coconut Records
(indie pop project by Jason Schwartzman)

Makes me want to snuggle under the covers and listen to sad, beautiful music on a gray, rainy day, like today.

Pucker Up

And kiss me, you fool.

NEW YORK (AP) -- A man was arrested at the U.S. Open after running on the court at Arthur Ashe Stadium to kiss Rafael Nadal following his victory Tuesday night.

Tournament spokesman Tim Curry said police arrested the man for interference with a sporting event.

"We're reviewing what happened and then will determine if we have to make any changes to our on-court security procedures," Curry said.

When Nadal finished beating Gael Monfils, the spectator ran out of the stands and approached the Spanish star on the sideline before security guards intervened.

But the best part of this tennis tale??

"For me, it wasn't a problem. The guy was really nice," Nadal said. "He said, 'I love you,' and he kissed me.

What's so special about today's date?

It's the last set of repeating, single-digit dates that we'll see for almost a century (until January 1, 2101), or a millennium (mark your calendars for January 1, 3001).

As the final numeral, the number nine holds special rank.  It is associated with forgiveness, compassion and success on the positive side as well as arrogance and self-righteousness on the negative, according to numerologists.

Seniors

I love them.

Why didn't I think of this?

The "CupShake."

"CupShake" = Cupcake + Ice Cream, blended together in delicious, decadent harmony.

Ingredients

1 cupcake
1 2-scoop ice cream cone (sugar or wafer cones are both fine)
1/4 cup heavy cream

Procedure

1. Place cupcake and ice cream cone in blender. Pour 1/4 cup heavy cream directly on top.

2. Blend until fully incorporated. If the shake is thicker than you'd like, add 1/4 cup more heavy cream and blend again, just until incorporated.

3. Serve immediately. If desired, garnish with whipped cream and sprinkles

(Thanks Cakespy, for the brilliant idea).

Can You Feel It?

The air in Austin, Texas is thicker than molasses with anticipation.
It's nearly time for tradition, for championships, for tailgating, for...

TEXAS FOOTBALL.

3 days, 24 minutes until kickoff.

Get your horns up.

A Class Act

Just heard Diane Sawyer is leaving Good Morning America.

My morning routine won't be the same.
(11-year-old me flipped on GMA first thing in the morning while I ate my cereal.  21-year-old me still does the same thing).

But it's a huge step for women in broadcast journalism.  She'll replace Charlie Gibson on World News.  Now, along with Katie Couric, two out of three networks will be anchored by women.

So thank you, Diane.  For opening doors.

Bored in Austin on a Wednesday Night?

Head to Cedar Street on W. 4th.

Cocktail or not, you'll be jamming out to the Spazmatics like a giddy teenage girl in no time. (Just ask my 50-year-old dad).

They bring the rockin' 80s back in style (or lack of).

The flashback starts every Wednesday at 10pm.

Fire up the grill...

The "Eternity" Burger just won first place in
The Austin-American Statesman's Best Backyard Burger Chef.

Yummm. What a perfect burger for Labor Day Weekend.

The winning recipe:

8 oz. ground Angus beef

2 oz. white Cheddar cheese, grated

1 small avacado, sliced 1/4 inch thick

2 Hatch green chiles, chopped

2 Tbsp. crushed-up Fritos

2 Tbsp. cream cheese

1 whole grain wheat bun

1 Tbsp. melted butter

1 Tbsp. Dijon-style mustard

1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

1/2 tsp. chili powder

1/2 tsp. black pepper

1/4 tsp. sea salt

In mixing bowl, combine beef with Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, black pepper and sea salt. Mix well and form one good patty for the grill. Grill over high heat and turn only one time. After flipping beef over, place cheese on top of patty to melt. Cover burger to help the melting . Prepare meat to desired doneness.

Open bun up and place on hot grill to toast.

Mix mustard, butter in a small bowl.

Place avocado slices directly on bottom bun and sprinkle crushed Fritos on top. Use a knife to "spread" the Fritos into the soft avocado.

Spread mustard sauce on top of it.

Place burger with melted cheese on top of the mustard sauce. Cover with green chiles.

Spread cream cheese on top bun, then place on top of chiles.
